При работе по технологии доступа GPON, MA5683T выполняет функции оптического линейного терминала (optical line terminal OLT), поддерживает работу (управление и мониторинг) оптическими абонентскими терминалами (optical network terminal ONT) или групповыми устройствами (optical network unit ONU).
